Tokopakdhe (Handycrafts Website)
About Tokopakdhe
Tokopakdhe is a marketplace that offers a wide range of authentic and modern handcrafted products in Indonesia. This marketplace collaborates with various traditional and modern craft centers across the country, enabling these products to reach consumers beyond their place of origin and be enjoyed by people all over Indonesia.
The Problem
Many buyers face difficulties in finding unique and high-quality local handcrafted items. They often have to browse through various platforms or stores without any assurance that the products they find will meet their expectations. The lack of information such as material details, manufacturing processes, and reviews from other buyers makes them hesitant to proceed with the purchase. Additionally, the challenge of finding truly authentic and not mass-produced products further complicates the search process, causing many potential buyers to feel frustrated and ultimately choose not to purchase at all.
Challenge
While several platforms offer spaces for buyers of handicrafts, many fall short of meeting buyers' needs, particularly regarding comprehensive product and shop information. This often leaves buyers hesitant to make a purchase. The primary challenge lies in creating a user experience that provides detailed product information while fostering buyer trust through a design that emphasizes transparency and professionalism.
Here are some potential approaches:
Provide comprehensive product and shop details, which may risk cluttering the interface but ensure buyers have all necessary information.
Incorporate visual elements such as customer reviews or trusted seller badges to build trust, though this may require additional development time.
Solution
To address the challenge of providing comprehensive product and store information while simultaneously building buyer trust, the solution is designed to create a structured and transparent user experience without compromising design simplicity. Several approaches can be taken:
Presenting product and store information in a structured way:
Main information (product name, price, rating, and photo) is displayed in the product details. Additional details such as materials, production process, or store policies can be accessed through tabs, accordions, or modal windows to avoid a cluttered interface.
Adding visual elements to enhance trust
Using trusted store icons that are only awarded to stores with positive reviews or certain criteria.
Including customer reviews with star ratings and visual testimonials from previous buyers to help potential buyers feel confident about the products being offered.
How Might We
Before determining the How Might We (HMW) questions, it is crucial to conduct in-depth research to identify Pain Points and Opportunities. By understanding these two aspects, I can formulate HMW questions that are relevant and focused on the core needs of the users and the potential for product development.
Based on the Pain Points and Opportunities above, the How Might We questions that I and my team can address are as follows.
Design Process
Wireframe
Before creating the High-Fidelity (HiFi) design, I first create a wireframe. This step helps in designing an effective layout and ensures that the user flow meets the needs. With the wireframe, the HiFi design process becomes more focused and efficient, minimizing major revisions in the final stage.
High-Fidelity
In the High-Fidelity (HiFi) design process, I focus on visual details and interactivity that closely resemble the final product. Elements such as colors, typography, icons, and animations are added to enhance the user experience. The HiFi design allows stakeholders to understand the final look of the application before the development phase begins.
Conclusion
I received positive feedback regarding the website I created, where the design is well-organized, with clear navigation and good visual consistency in the use of colors, typography, and icons, making it easier for users to navigate and understand the information presented. However, there are a few suggested improvements, namely:
There is still a lot of empty space on the right side of the Checkout page, especially in the 'Payment Details' section.
Some sections could benefit from a little more white space to make the layout look tidier.
